Air Manis Beach

Air Manis, means "fresh water" in local language, is a name of a village and a beach located in West Sumatra, Indonesia. It is seperated to Padang by a hill. It just takes 20-30 minutes from Pasar Raya (Padang) to get there by public transportation but the geographical separation makes it feels like you're leaving Padang for a holiday.

Air Manis beach is nice thought it isn't the best for swimming because it is sloping. The view is what makes this beach popular for the tourist. It offers a beautiful view of Mount Padang, and the beach itself is also good. This beach has a fascinating beautiful beach waves that roll breezy and a brown albescent sand that spread along the coast.

Moreover, Air Manis beach is closely related to the legend of Malin Kundang in West Sumatra. Malin Kundang is a character fabled to have been turned to stone, together with his ship, after periods of disobedience to his mother. By the beach, there stands Maling Kundang stone and several pieces of equipment of his ship, which are also stones. Based on the story, Malin Kundang was cursed by his mother for his refusal to acknowledging her as his mother after travelling another region and becoming rich.

Not far from the beach, an island appears to stand with classiness, so interesting to visit. The island known as Pisang Kecil (literally means "small banana"). There, the tourist will see many monkeys that may hang around. Although not tame, the monkeys do not disturb the tourist. Begin from the morning to afternoon, you can walk to this one hectare island through shallow water. In late afternoon, however, there is a tide and you must take a boat to return. On its right, there is another island called Pisang Besar (literally means "big banana").

In addition to the opportunity of surfing, you can reach an island from Air Manis by walking through 100 m of water and sand. On the island, you can lay down in a hammock or explore the rocky coastline by walking and climbing around. It's totally worth it!

In our personal thought, this place is such a complete package! There you can have both an adventerous, educating, and eye-freshing holiday. So, what else to wait? Go pack your bag and get the cheap costed holiday for an expensive experience.

Last but not least, don't forget to taste the most palatable foods in the world, Padang cuisine, in its hometown!

May you have a wonderful holiday!
